Frigid Thoughts
My nephew, Diego, got accepted into St. Laurence Catholic Elementary School and I am very proud of him and want to do something for him; so here goes: a trip to the Houston ZOO. My tires leaked sweat as they gripped the sweltering cement of the Houston Zoo parking lot. As we approached the gates where the cash and tickets are exchanged, the first bead of internal liquid seeped from a forehead pore. Holding my nephew's humid chunk of a hand, I spotted an ice cream vendor. The beauty of that stand would plaster itself in my memory throughout this whole zoo experience. Our first stop: Koalas; located in a well-ventilated pavilion. At this point I begin to realize how long it had been since I visited the ZOO; I had forgot how much FUN it was! After the Koalas, we went to the reptiles (MY FAVORITE!) and saw a white alligator. Personally, the white alligator was the high-point of my day; but, I was so happy that Diego enjoyed it as well. After visiting all the animals that resided in enclosed areas, and whose natural habitats consisted of cool climates, we greeted the sea lions and started back towards the popsicles.
