Natural Disasters and such
My Mom was thwarted in her mission to reunite with me in Austin due to the massive amount of vehicles on the freeways. I talked to Killy this morning and he told me his car was moving, but the speedometer read zero miles per hour. Houstononians are evacuating. Wow. Never thought that would happen. I can't help but refer to my Catholic memory: my Mom told me a story (well to her it wasn't a story) that the VIrgin Mary appeared to some little girls and warned them that in the near future numerous natural disasters (...Allison, tsunami, katrina, rita...) and rising numbers of evil acts (terrorists, 9-11, columbine, hate crimes, rapes at superdome...) were going to facilitate the end of the world. She even had a print out. Well, I'm worried for my sister and the kids who are not leaving Houston. The whole family is watching tv, sitting on their hands, "toughing it out", as my brother called it. Over here things are going as they should; classes continue, loneliness prevails, self questioning constantly surfaces, and the feelings of not living to full potential never leave. I miss my kitty-witty.
