Last Friday Carol, the most anticipated almond-eyed baby girl and I made our way through the tough streets of the Warehouse district to a dance theatre production. The dancers looked like they had just taken a couple hits before showtime. Stringy, sweat-drenched hair and dark shadows around the eyes pervaded the pirouetting images. The dancing was interrupted by video via a projection device. The abstract movie with it's limited dialogue could have been a little bit shorter. The unique bends and movement of the dancers kept the pace of the event. Overall a good production and good time. This weekend produced a different after effect. The green-eyed bouncer showed us our way into the Indian-flavored club Mantra. Bold, bubbly light fixures, candles and autumn colors made the atmosphere inspire nostalgia of a romantic time. A man with dredlocks and a guayabera, syncopated his own drum beats with the salsa and house the dj spinned. My eyes enjoyed their candy.
