NPR Dream
I woke up whimpering today. My kitty was going psycho running across my room like Superman and he accidentally turned my radio on. It happened to be on NPR and even though I was dreaming, my brain was making connections to the story. This is what I think I heard: In Alaska they are shipping people off to Iraq, and the mothers count on the sons and fathers to catch salmon and feed the family. They asked their kids to go into the Army in the first place so that they could one day go to college, so the Mother ends up feeling horrible because there's a possibility her son might die because of her suggestions and the rest of the family has to count on non-immediate family members to remain alive. The story was probably tainted with imagination in my dreams, but it made me sad. There was also something about the remedy for a headache. When you have a headache you should eat fish because it somehow makes your blood flow more easily due to the omega three fatty acids, which is supposedly why Eskimos don't get heart attacks; their main source of food is fish. hmm....? Dreams and NPR sure do make a funny combination.
